GEORGES MOUSTAKI + Roger Mas
25.02.09 21.00h / PALAU DE LA MĂšSICA

Georges Moustaki continues to inspre from the stage with his values, good luck and lyrical words even at the age of seventy-three. Musician, author, composer, interpreter and poet, his works have been inspiration to, and voiced by, great artists, such as: Piaf, Reggiani, Barbara, Dalida, Montand and Salvador, amongst others. Georges Moustaki revealed his talent as an interpreter in 1969 with Le Métèque (The Foreigner), written for cinema. He is equally passionate about writing, drawing and painting. He travels extensively throughout France and the world (sometimes on motorbike) to meet with friends, make new ones and sing about his permanent revolution everywhere.

He is an uncomplicated person, natural, lively, fun and witty; his artistic career covers a wide spectrum of artistic expression. In terms of his music, he has worked on a total of forty-two productions, which include own works, collaborations, compilations, music for theatre and film sound tracks.

His 2003 album includes tracks such as Odeon, Le promeneur, Emma (feat Emma Thompson), Petit testament, Gardez vous reves, L’amant de secours, Petite âme soeur, Quand j’étais un voyou and Paris a le coeur tendre.

Songs like Le repenti, Amant de secours and Je m’en irai, in addition toprobing self-portraits painted by Moustaki, inspired by the poet René Char, will fill the auditorium from the stage at the Palau de la Música.

For his 2003 album, Moustaki used arrangements by Jean-Claude Vannier, the same man behind the Histoire de Melody Nelson album and many songs by Claude Nougaro. In his projects with Moustaki, Vannier has directed a very unusual orchestra, one that resonates with flute fugues, violin outbursts and string harmonies.

After more than twenty six tours, many albums, ten published books and universal recognition after being named Cultural Ambassador of Peace for UNESCO, the white figure on stage continues to be “mi ternura” (my tenderness), as described by Barbara, or “un viajero del alma” (soul traveller), as claimed by French press reports in response to the appearance of Vagabond.
