La Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc wasfounded in September 1986, by Nicolás Porte. It is a mixed choir, comprised of fifty-five children, aged from ten to fifteen. All choir members are students at Saint Marc in Lyon. There is a specific education for students before and after they form part of la maîtrise. (The children become part of the choir during their first secondary school year). Singers also join another junior choir once they reach the fifteen-year barrier.

Les Petits Chanteurs are part of the Fédération Française des Petits Chanteurs y la Fédération Internationale des Pueri Cantores that groups together thousands of junior singers across the five continents.

They became famous for “The Chorus” (Les Choristes) (2004).
Concert performances have intensified in both rhythm and frequency for this junior choir following their participation in the soundtrack of the award winning film. They have moved on from performing at classical musical festivals in France to having a full concert agenda in auditoriums across Europe, Asia and America, with audiences of up to ten thousand people.

During their concerts, the choir offers a repertoire that includes songs composed by Bruno Colais for the film, in addition to other songs by the same composer and songs from the new album “Nos Reves”. They also perform other classical works, popular songs and sacred music, from Gregorian chants to 20th century music.

The X Festival Mil.lenni brings the choir back from Lyon once again for a concert that will blend a great range of characteristics and styles, from the classical to the contemporary, with the special Saint-Marc magic.
